Visitors

We are one of those families that are not fortunate to live near either of our parents, and since we both have wonderful, Godly parents, we miss not living closer to them. So when they do come to town, we very much appreciate it.

This week Colleen's folks are in town for just a couple of days, and the timing couldn't have been better. The kids have been sick since last weekend, both at the same time with some combination of fever, cold, cough, and ear infection, so it's been a draining few days. Sleep has been at a premium, because when the kids don't sleep well, neither do mom and dad. Days like these make you appreciate your own parents all the more. We've thought often over the last few days of the saying that goes in regards to parenthood, "the days are long but the years are short." We can certainly empathize with the first part of that saying with the week's recent activity, yet can definitely understand how the years seem to go by quickly as well.

So we've been very thankful to have them in town. They've been a big help, helping around the house and watching the kids, though we hope as they go home in a couple of days that they don't take germs and sickness home with them.
